Key Personnel

James Hart P.E., Ph.D. - Jim has over 15 years of pipeline related structural design and analysis project experience. He has been involved in all aspects of specialized problem solving, from problem occurrence to solution installed. Jim offers experience in test plan design, data acquisition systems, field testing of operating pipeline, pipeline-soil interaction analysis, and fitness for service evaluations. He pioneered the development of a patented wind-induced vibration damper system, and is currently researching other new and innovative pipeline design concepts including Highly Tensioned Suspended Pipelines (HTSPs). Jim is an active member of the B31 Mechanical Design Committee.

Nasir Zulfiqar P.E., Ph.D. - Nasir has over 12 years of experience with complex finite element analysis, ranging from simulation of highly tensioned suspended pipeline behavior to demand-capacity evaluations of corroded and damaged pipelines. He has been involved in field testing of arctic pipelines and the design of wind induced vibration damper systems as well as investigations of pipeline and pipe supports due to frost jacking. Nasir is an active member of the ASCE/TCLEE Gas and Liquid Fuel Lifelines committee.

Graham Powell P.E., Ph.D. - Graham has over 30 years experience developing specialized finite element solutions for pipeline-soil interaction analysis. Since developing the initial version of PIPLIN for Alyeska's Trans Alaskan Pipeline System (TAPS) in 1972, Graham has helped SSD refine this model, so that today, PIPLIN is the recognized leading program for pipeline-soil interaction analysis. He is retired Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and is world renowned for his work in nonlinear structural analysis.

Glen Stevick P.E., Ph.D. - Glen has over 20 years experience in failure analysis and design of industrial equipment, including; pressure vessels, heat exchangers, valves, piping and pipelines, general machinery and structural components, compressors, pumps, and turbines. Glen is a leader in the field of fatigue and fracture, with wide ranging experience in analysis, design and testing.
